Architecture
This section describes the different components behind Beyonds's infrastructure—including smart contracts, validators, nodes and indexers.
📄️ Design
This section provides a detailed overview of Beyond's system architecture, focusing on the core components and their interactions. Additionally, you will find other sources of information in:
📄️ Contracts
Beyond can support the 80+ largest blockchains in the industry — including all the major L1s, L2s, EVM, and non-EVM chains. Check out the list of supported chains for more details. This article explains the various smart contracts powering Beyond’s omnichain interoperability, which work in conjunction with their Bitcoin L1 counterpart: the Forge.
📄️ Forge
The Forge is a core component of the Beyond protocol, and is responsible for locking and unlocking tokens on Bitcoin L1 (BTC, Runes, BRC-20s...). It is a validator-controlled entity, secured by a multi-party computation scheme, and is designed to ensure the security and integrity of the Beyond protocol. The Forge's counterpart on non-Bitcoin chains are the Core and Relayer smart contracts.
📄️ Infrastructure
Beyond's backend infrastructure is designed to support robust, scalable, and secure cross-chain operations. This document outlines the core components powering the overall system.
